Green Product Highlight: Custom Carpets from the Scott Group
Custom rugs have been on our minds lately here at Judy’s Custom Workroom. One vendor we love, the Scott Group, came in recently and showed off their latest collections. They make carpeting for residential and commercial interiors, including aircraft, hospitality businesses and yachts. Their custom carpets are made from such luxury fibers as New Zealand wool, cashmere and mulberry silk. These fibers all come from sustainable and renewable natural sources.
“The pure New Zealand wool in our handcrafted, luxury rugs and carpets is one of nature’s most perfect materials. Along with its natural beauty, softness, and durability, it is also 100% rapidly renewable…Even after it’s shorn from the sheep, dyed, and hand-tufted into carpets, natural wool continues to renew itself. What’s more, wool absorbs airborne contaminants, actively cleaning the indoor air you breathe by neutralizing harmful gases such as formaldehyde and sulfur dioxide. In fact, Scott Group  has earned CRI’s prestigious Green Label Plus qualification for indoor air quality, recognizing our carpets among the very lowest emitting products on the market and meeting the EQ standards for LEED certification. Of course, wool is naturally insulating, too, reducing heat loss through flooring while creating a more comfortable atmosphere. It also absorbs excess moisture in the room and creates an inhospitable environment for bacteria and dust mites, which can trigger allergies and asthma.

The beautiful fabrics above are a part of the Scott Group’s latest collection. What is so great is that all of their carpet designs can be altered-the scale of the pattern can change, the colors, the cut, and overall size and shape. The Scott Group can also make wall to wall carpets and area rugs custom designed by you (with the help of the designer’s here at JCW!)
Orange Coast Interior Design
Wonder what is going on at Orange Coast Interior Design & Judy’s Custom Workroom lately?
This week we are in the early stages of designing 3 clients’ homes-selecting fabrics and materials, producing renderings, and conceptual images…
Below are selections for a contemporary great room. The colors are dark brown, ivory, and turquoise with an accent of orange and silver. The wallcovering we want to use is a chocolate crocodile faux leather. We think the vaulted ceiling would be awesome if painted metallic silver!

We plan on making most of the furniture illustrated below here at Judy’s Custom Workroom.
We would love to make 4 contemporary wingback chairs in a turquoise velvet with textured ivory leather backs and silver nailheads.
Here are some materials we have put together for another client’s a dining room/living room and family room/nook
Our client is debating adding some blue into the space. This Harlequin stripe fabric is perfect!
The wallcoverings we have selected are also Harlequin.

The design is transitional- we are creating and selecting traditional furniture pieces and furnishings, but in contemporary colors and finishes.
Many of the fabrics are from Duralee’s Suburban Home and Designer Eileen Kathryn Boyd.
This home is currently in demolition and we are so excited to get started!!!
