Vervain: Brilliant Color and Shine

This season, Vervain introduces new textures and vibrant colors to its latest fabric collection. Inspired by India’s jewel-toned colors and sumptuous patterns, Montescano pays homage to the 17th and 18th century paisleys embroidered on Indian cashmere shawls. Complemented by an open, transitional drawing, Sequin Dream displays a simplified frame damask embroidered with sequins on a sheer organza ground.

Orange Coast Interior Design

Wonder what is going on at Orange Coast Interior Design & Judy’s Custom Workroom lately?
This week we are in the early stages of designing 3 clients’ homes-selecting fabrics and materials, producing renderings, and conceptual images…

Below are selections for a contemporary great room. The colors are dark brown, ivory, and turquoise with an accent of orange and silver. The wallcovering we want to use is a chocolate crocodile faux leather. We think the vaulted ceiling would be awesome if painted metallic silver!
Below are some possible accent and drapery fabric.
We plan on making most of the furniture illustrated below here at Judy’s Custom Workroom.
We would love to make 4 contemporary wingback chairs in a turquoise velvet with textured ivory leather backs and silver nailheads.

Here are some materials we have put together for another client’s a dining room/living room and family room/nook

Our client is debating adding some blue into the space. This Harlequin stripe fabric is perfect!
The wallcoverings we have selected are also Harlequin.

Below are fabrics, materials and inspiration photos for a whole home remodel. We love this gray and yellow color scheme!
The design is transitional- we are creating and selecting traditional furniture pieces and furnishings, but in contemporary colors and finishes.
Many of the fabrics are from Duralee’s Suburban Home and Designer Eileen Kathryn Boyd.
This home is currently in demolition and we are so excited to get started!!!

Stay tuned for more photos of these homes and project updates!

Color Forecast

As for the next year’s color forecast, we’re predicting

heavy purples, strong silvers, and sunny beiges with a good chance of taupe.

According to an article in Custom Home Magazine, the Color Marketing Group agrees. The CMG, the largest color forecasting organization based in Alexandria, VA announced this spring that p’zazz, a vibrant deep red-purple, which we have seen in past seasons on the fashion runway, is the “it” color for fall/winter 2011 to 2012. According to CMG’s forecast, “expect it to adorn feature walls, accent soft furnishings, and breathe new life into standard hues such as beige, navy, and gray.” Alongside p’zazz, honey moon—a golden hue achieved by blending “the sweet earthiness of honey and the romance of a harvest moon” to conjure upbeat realism—is the golden child for home decor in the near future.
